Supported by Michigan Works, the Upper Peninsula Economic Development Alliance (UPEDA) and the Small Business & Technology Development Center. 200 people provided input and 1600 participated in an online survey. (This document is 173 pages in length. It identifies key obstacles to growth and development in the UP in the areas of natural resources, higher education, business growth and development, education and workforce development, health care, infrastructure and tourism. Moreover, the full report formulates strategies for regional economic and workforce development that are specific, measurable, achievable, and realistic with a timeline. The Executive Summary listed above mentions the progress of the task forces formed to work on the identified areas.)

Economic Development Corporation:
An economic development corporation is an organization common in the United States, usually a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to promote economic development within a specific geographical area. These organizations are similar to, and complementary to Chambers of Commerce.

Economic Development Organization (EDO):
Functions as individual entity and in some cases as a department of local government. Their role is to seek out new economic opportunities and retain their existing business wealth.
